Description:

There has been a lot of controversy surrounding Justin Bieber’s Instagram lately, especially due to his sporadic and random posts. Some speculate that it could be a marketing strategy for his new clothing brand that he is coming out with. Others have speculated that Bieber is dealing with a lot of mental  health issues due to the trauma that Bieber might have endured coming to light due to the P Diddy case. Another theory is that Bieber is still not over his ex girlfriend, Selena Gomez, and that her engagement and new album being a success has caused him to spiral into some sort of manic episode.

Although people can only spectate, I personally see Justin Bieber’s recent Instagram feed to be a cry for help. I feel like the impression I took away when it comes to his last one hundred posts is that he is a person who is severely unwell and not happy with the life he has. Bieber’s unusual increase in activity on Instagram has raised concerns for me, as well as for fans.

For starters, I feel like his posts are a little shady in the sense that there’s a double meaning behind the songs he’s choosing and the memes he’s posting. For example, in the selected post I chose, he posted his wife, Hailey Bieber,  to the song “Irreplaceable” by Beyoncé. The song is about how a person is always replaceable to the singer of the song.  I feel like even if he chose the wrong song, he would have taken the post down out of respect for his wife.

This ties into the question of if this is all a mistake. I feel like his posts are intentional, especially after he posted a meme shading women who post on Instagram with their engagement ring. His wife posted Instagram photos just like what the meme is poking fun of. It could be meant to shade Selena who just recently got engaged, but it is also shading Hailey as well. I feel like when people post something shady, they normally mean what they’re posting. Even if they regret it later on, they meant their distastefulness in the moment.

I think Justin Bieber’s Instagram leaves a lot of speculation that leads to a lot of confused discourse about his state of mental health. Overall, I do not think someone who is in a good mental state would be posting this much. I feel like a lot of people will turn to social media when they are seeking validation, help, and/or reassurance, and I feel like Justin Bieber is no exception.
